Date: 2011-02-07 02:37 am (UTC)I remember finding a similar coffin in the attic of a general store in Centre, Alabama when I was really young. This was one of those stores that sold notions, horse collars, leather straps, motor oil, hoop cheese on the counter, and pretty much everything you'd need if you lived on a farm and didn't want to go into the big town. There were old and dust-ridden coffins of all sizes except adult.
It made me stop/ be solemn in the midst of sneaking around where I wasn't supposed to be. It's a sharp memory even now.
