Streetcars and people...

My offering for Sepia Saturday 215 are a few old postcards of streetcars.

Which I adore, particularly after the memories shared by my grandmother, Doris Balding Williams, about riding the streetcar with her own mother to shop and pay bills in Little Rock in the nineteen teens...

(I see someone had a fine dinner in Lancaster when they sent this card.)

This is a Sepia Saturday post.

Head over there to see other lovely old photos and cards.

These are very detailed pictures of busy streets in times gone by. Wonderful old images.

I like streetcar postcards too, and I am planning to post one this week. The Sacramento postcard has an especially good view of the streetcar.

I love horse-drawn transport for the atmosphere but for sheer practicality i love trams, or what you call streetcars. Do those towns still have their trams ? Very interesting.

are street cars, trolley buses and trams the same thing? We just call them trams here in Aus. Great postcards!

I was looking for a picture of streetcars in Indianapolis to illustrate a letter my Grandfather wrote my Grandmother but decided to go in another direction.

The pictures of the streetcars bring back memories. I used to ride them all the time when I was working in the city!

Thank you

I love the facade of the Lavensons building.

I love the feel of photos of old street car scenes -- there is almost an elegant feel with this emerging transportation technology.
