I'm not even close to on point with this week's theme.

But I am fascinated by this photo of my grand-aunt Murnie on 12 Aug 1929. She was 17.

Photobucket

I wish I knew who the other folks are. Aunt Murnie is sitting in the back seat, closest to the front of the photo.

I guess the altitude made it cool enough for everyone to be wearing a hat.

This is a Sepia Saturday post. Head over there for more really cool photos.

On theme or not, that's a great old car and we get to see some millinery ofthe time.

What a cool photo! They must have been going on a tour, and perhaps the ones you don't know were just random folks going on the tour! They look to be having a wonderful time!

altitude or brightness that made shading the eyes desirable (or protecting one's skin, for the women).

i wonder if that was a special car that "lived" at glen cove where one could take a picture for one's memory book.

From Alan Burnett:
Who cares about the theme when you have a fabulous old photograph like this one to share. Full of detail - a delight to study.

This is too funny! I have a family photo in the same car and location, but the date on mine is July 24, 1928. I posted it on my blog here: http://2338wwashingtonblvd.blogspot.com/2010/10/rite-of-passage.html

So there will be many more around...
Nevertheless, great picture and I also wonder about the make.
