I love your photos. I too am drawn to the more elaborate headstones, but never really categorized them or understood the symbolism. Have you read the novel, Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier, If not, I recommend it. It centers around Victorian funeral customs, beliefs and cemeteries. Several of my friends didn't like it, because of the subject, but I think I am on safe ground with you.
