I'm just saving the image from Ancestry. I keep a copy of the entire original document and then crop in Picasa to make it more legible, and added the arrows in Paint.

For pdf documents, like the church membership record, I select the text I want and then paste it into Paint to create a jpeg image that can be uploaded here.
