Regarding the first article -- newspapers were written so much differently then than they are now. It's hard to imagine current papers, even in human interest stories, publishing stories written in such a supportive way.

Regarding the second article -- I don't know if it's available online or not but it would be interesting to see if she was listed as a passenger on the ship's manifest.
