Amen. I've never been able to do a full blown rant (not that this is truly full blown) on the War because some of my misguided in-laws drank the tea and see it as a glorious, romantic lost cause. At least they concede the lost. Don't know what I'd do if they were still trying to fight the damn thing.
So, so hard to be objective in this research. Just gotta do the work and put it out there.
As to dinner conversations, they may have done what my own family did - stopped talking about it - at least those on the losing side did.
