I have "the book" written by John W Cothern called Confederates of Elmwood, and am happy to do look-ups for anyone. Just leave a comment to this entry or this one, and I will reply.

Thank you for the great photos and your offer to do a lookup in the Book 'Confederates of Elmwood'. I am searching for a John M. or John N. Wright (or J.M./J.N.) of the 11th Arkansas Infantry who may have died of disease in Memphis during the War. His family says he died in Memphis, but does not know where he was buried. Any assistance you may provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Robert

There are several Wrights buried at Elmwood, in both the officers and enlisted men's sections. However none of those listed are documented as fighting for Arkansas.

I checked the Index for the 11th Ark. Inf., and did not see any Wrights listed there either.

There are several pages of unknowns listed in Confederates of Elmwood. And when they say "unknown," the only information they have is date of interment.

I'm sorry - I got really excited thinking we might be able to identify another vet.

If you have not already, you might try researching John M/N Wright at a really superb website for Arkansas Civil War soldiers created by a couple of men who have worked very hard at having accurate information.

I found
Salathiel P Jackson (with an S not an N); Lot/Division 1, #138, Plat Number 138.
Died at Memphis 20 Oct 1861. Died of camp measles per cemetery record.
William S Jackson; Lot/Division 1, #120, Plat Number 120. Two dates of death, both at Memphis - 25 Oct 1861 (Muster roll records) OR 19 Oct 1861, per Register of Soldiers Killed in Battle or Who died of Wounds or Disease.
Richard T Macon; Lot/Division 2, #342, Plat Number 892. Two dates of death - both say died in hospital of complaint of diarrhea. One says date of death 6 Oct 1863, the other 7 Oct 1863. Was a prisoner of war, captured at Helena, AR.
A M Jackson; Lot/Division 1, #115, Plat Number 115. Died at Memphis on 19 Oct 1861, cemetery record says died in camp.

And now I see I have a bunch of dead links on photos, so I'll have to hunt up a flash drive...
