At least your society MET. My local genealogical society has a website. Period. You can't even click on the "membership" link. I had to email one of the members, only to be told that I can join for free, but I had to post at least one "item" (census document, probate document, obituary, etc.) that was directly related to Chattanooga/Hamilton County, TN. (Unfortunately, absolutely NONE of my research is here). Short of doing that, I was welcome to make a monetary donation to the society.
But no meetings? What's the point? In my opinion, that's not a society - that's a repository for documents. The next closest one is two hours away. I'm seriously thinking about starting my own.
