Hello- First I found your blog through Jenn's blog: Climbing My family Tree: One Branch At a Time...
Honey, I am only in my 30's! I yawn & roll my eyes at every one of the societies I have scoped out. The conferences I attend with my, dare I say, "older" friends, I hear "Oh how nice of you to come with your mother",...!!!! Are you serious!
Maybe you can stick it out with a lower end old fashioned society & weasel your way into a position that can make a diference. Kind of highjack a group :D
