Hey - I forgot all about that story about the shot through the headboard! If my little brother told you this, he probably also mentioned why all the little churches in the area where built of stone. (Remember when you mentioned how nice all the STONE churches were in the area when we did the July visit?) At the time I didn't remember, but it was because they thought stone would be safer from "fire". He told me the Klan was after Catholics as much as they were after African Americans, but this is seldom discussed. AND you are right. I have been told by very reliable sources that the Klan is still very much alive in Arkansas - NW Arkansas being the most popular hangout. They don't ride through town pitching torches so much anymore, they use more backdoor methods theses days. My little brother is a VERY good source of historical information on this than I am.
