I didn't find out until much later that Thomas Andrew Isbell was in my family tree.

I've seen a lot of these lately. Maybe they couldn't afford a carved stone, but you can't say this one came cheap, either.

I agree - the homemade headstones are very poignant. I photographed many of these in the old Palmdale Cemetery several years ago.
