No, not on the chain gang. But we had Burrises and Chronisters who were in the Pope County Home Guard, which I understand was another way of being a member of the Peace Society.
I thought since James Littleton Burris sold saddles and tack to the CSA, he must have had sympathies with the Confederates. I think probably more, he was just making a living.
