Love. This.

It's a 1905 ad - I wish I knew the exact date - for my family's Williams Grocer Co. in Russellville, Pope Co., AR.

And if you're not keeping up, you haven't realized that both my parents' families of origin came from Pope County...

But, I digress.

Isn't it a hoot?

Still in the Lead! it proclaims.

And at the end, this cutie...

When Hungry C Us

And here I thought chat-ese and text language was a new-fangled thing...

I love the old ads in newspapers. I think they give us a glimpse into life during the time they were published. Just think, your ancestors probably shopped there!

Dee, you must have changed something behind the scenes because suddenly I can see your posts - the whole posts - in google reader. Before I used to get about 4 lines and no images and had to click through to read. I like whatever you did.

What a hoot...I haven't done anything different to the blog. Maybe Google Reader's set-up has changed somehow.

I know only some of my stuff in Reader displays in full.

And yeah, I've often wondered if my Burrises stopped at the Williams Grocer Company when they left the farm and went into town.

Of course, the specific Burris and Williams - my mom and dad - would not meet until half a century later, when they were both working at the telephone company in Little Rock...
