This is a surprise to me since I thought all of the pension application records were at the National Archives. Do you have his service record? Maybe it will tell you more. I am making a list of individuals that I want the pension and service records for so that when I get the chance to go to NARA, I will be prepared! I always put a couple on my Christmas list, but no one ever gets one for me. They prefer shopping at the local mall . . . yuck!
